Let the candle die out
Let the candle die out
Your body lies on the ground, bleeding.
You struggle to breath, your throat penetrated by the sharp apex of your killers lonely blade.
I call for help, yet no one’s ears are prepared to listen.
A flash, an accelerated shadow.
Is it human, or is it monster?
Again, a flash.
Who could it be?
A dark being strides towards me, my pupils dilate in numbing panic.
His pace becomes faster, he becomes faster still when his atramentous eyes lay upon you.
What am I to do? Run or permit myself to sustain my fear for a moment longer?
I cry out in cowardice, only for a second.
In one swift movement the being becomes human, a gaunt candle lights his face.
What repulsive human is this?
His face mauled, blood protruding from the pores of his skin.
He laid his spare hand on you, tilting his head down simultaneously.
He shrieks, tears pouring out of his eyes.
Could he be your father?
He places the candle on the cold cobblestone, he wipes his tears away.
You begin to choke, your airways close down.
Your body shakes, blood gushes out quicker than ever before.
The light shines upon you, I look away in complete consternation.
The candle continues to emit light, intense animosity builds up inside me.
I plead with the candle for it to stop, but it continues to shine upon your body.
The light, it tempts me to look. However, I must look away.
Will it ever die out? Will it torment me forever?
Please, let the candle die out.
